Twenty years ago it wasn't hard to find consumer products that were "Made in USA"; today not so much. Who's to blame is a political issue that became an economic problem is addressed on other websites. It is now up to us as consumers to use our wallets to support our economy and other working Americans with our purchases.

This website is an incomplete list of non-food consumer products, most of which can be found for less that $1,000. Most "Made in USA" products are very close to the same price as poor quality American brand imports. Many of these can be found in stores and online, we provide a listing for the products and manufacturers. This list will grow as we, our visitors and manufacturers provide us with more products. We won't indicate whether something can be found at a store or online; the manufacturers may have that information on their websites.

"Buy American" is not the same as "Buy American Made". "Made in America", "Made in USA" and even "Assembled in USA"; which means that Americans are working and they are supporting their families and growing the economy.

As consumers we can do more than the members of Congress and their corporate owners are willing to do. We can be more conscientious of our purchases. Whenever possible we need to look at the label, compare the price of "Made in USA" with the same product made offshore. If you can honestly afford the additional 10 - 15% price difference, buy the "Made in USA" product.

Keep in mind, "Made in USA" does save you money in the long run. "Made in USA" products last longer, which means you don't have to replace them within a few weeks preventing you from paying for the same thing twice. Those $50 shoes made in China will cost another $50 in 3 - 4 months and again every 3 - 4 months, the $75 shoes "Made in USA" will you cost you another $75 in 2 - 2 1/2 years; this is a savings of $150 - $300 over 2 years. That may not seem like a lot in the scheme of things, but think about the total savings when taking all purchases into consideration.

Plan your purchases, not all "Made in USA" products can be found in the stores, you will have to look online. There are times during the year that we know happen, school, religious holidays, birthdays, anniversaries and so forth, these are perfect for planned purchases. Not everything needs to bought at once either.

Once you have had the chance to see that buying "Made in USA" is actually affordable, you can share that experience with your friends and family. You can also inform the larger expatriot manufacturers and tell them as well. "I found a product identical to yours for a couple of dollars more that was 'Made in USA'. I have decided to stop buying your products and have been encouraging my friends, family and co-workers to do the same. When you return your manufacturing to the United States, I will be more than happy to return as one of your customers."

The next time your family member, friend or neighbor comes to you excited about his or her newest purchase with all the bells and whistles, show them your new "Made in USA" prouduct and say:
"I bought this the other day and it was "Made in USA" with pride and quality, and the coolest thing about this is that I helped our fellow Americans keep their jobs." (Don't forget to give them a big smile of pride.)
